Three ways for kids to earn a patch while exploring the
Erie National Wildlife Refuge:

Be a Nature Explorer! The “Nature Explorer Program” turns children into nature detectives who must complete tasks or answer questions about the refuge to earn an embroidered "Explorer" patch. Obtain a copy of the "Nature Explorer" booklet from the refuge office or click here.

Let's Go Birding! Kid's Complete birding activities and earn an embroidered "Birding" patch. Obtain a copy of the "Let's Go Birding" booklet from the refuge office or download it by clicking here.

Refuge-Caching! Another fun way to earn a patch is to complete our "Refuge-Caching" booklet. Like geocaching, "Refuge-Caching" uses a GPS to locate coordinates to virtual caches on the Erie National Wildlife Refuge. Obtain a copy of the "Refuge-caching!" booklet from the refuge office or download it by clicking here.

About Us

The Friends of the Erie National Wildlife Refuge is an organization of concerned citizens who appreciate the Refuge’s efforts to protect and improve the natural habitat needed for the wide variety of plants and animals that populate the Refuge grounds as well as providing public recreation and environmental education opportunities.
